Two recalls affect half a million GM vehicles in Canada


General Motors is announcing two separate recalls this week that affect nearly half a million vehicles in Canada.

The first targets 222,490 vehicles Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra 2020 to 2023 with their 2024 HD models In some cases, water can get into the external tail switch. Therefore, there is a risk that the tailgate will open and open by accident when the car is stationary.

If the driver does not notice this, things that are not properly secured in the cargo box can fall when the truck is in motion and thus increase the risk of accidents to other road users.

GM dealers will need to replace the tailgate switch. As a precaution, the manufacturer recommends owners check the tailgate to make sure it’s closed and latched properly before hitting the road.

The second major recall announced by GM covers 273,255 vehicles nationwide. We are talking about several examples Buick, Chevrolet, GMC and Cadillac from 2020 to 2024. complete and comprehensive list can be found on the Transport Canada website.

Due to a software problem, the low beams may turn on when it is dark outside and the multifunction switch is set to the “OFF” or “PARKING LIGHT” position. It is also possible that the daytime running lights go out when the car is moving, compromising visibility.

In this case, the recall notice states that the solution is to update the Body Control Module (BCM) software.
