GMC Hummer EV Battery Installation Problems – Safety

What along with the Rivian R1T is the 100% most popular electric pickup in the US, the GMC Hummer EV, has been recalled by safety authorities for serious battery problems. Two lawsuits have been filed against General Motors over potential problems with battery coatings and urethane sealants.
The Detroit automaker has clarified that only some battery packs, not all, are affected by the problem.
A total of 735 Hummer EV vehicles are affected with build dates from November 9, 2021 to September 28, 2022.
GM also noted that some of the leaks from the urethane seals have been removed by Magna International Inc, a battery pack supplier. The high voltage groups concerned – notes the note – are those with numbers 24048088 and 24049061 of which the first is intended for the Hummer EV not model 2022 and 2023 and the other for the BrightDrop Zevo 600 van (presented last year by General Motors) .
GM is not aware of any accidents, injuries, or battery fires related to the above issues. Dealers have already been notified of the recall, and owners will be notified of the recall by mail on November 28.
