Ford has abandoned its plan to convert its European retail network to a direct agency sales model, according to reports.
The group had already delayed the introduction of direct sales to 2026 after an initial testing phase. Now the automaker is doing away with the system altogether and is instead creating an “advanced franchising” structure.
Ford declined to comment on the report, while a Ford dealer said the company had told its dealers in Germany that the transition would not be completed until 2030.
Ford will continue to expand its European dealer network with a focus on premium SUVs and commercial vehicles ahead of its transition to an all-electric brand in Europe.
