Christian Horner: Response to Wolff’s World Cup / Formula 1 statement

It has been confirmed that Christian Horner and Toto Wolff have had many a war of words. Not only in the 2021 season, the bosses of both teams took the opportunity to repeatedly throw words at their fellow experts from the opposing camps. Accordingly, the two are often asked about each other’s statements.

It was the same in Suzuka. There, Mercedes team boss Wolff explained about the performance of Red Bull Racing star Max Verstappen: “No one will meet Max this year. His car is impressive and he drives very well. You can see how he can handle the tyres. This season is basically about who will be the best among others.”

When asked about this, Horner was blunt. The Brit took the opportunity to take a swipe at words and explained with a wide smile: “It’s still too early to write off the whole season. We still have 20 race weekends to compete and I’ve also learned over the years not to listen too closely to what Toto has to say.”

Verstappen is top of the World Championship table after his third win in four races. However, because he had to accept a retirement in Australia because a brake problem prevented him from reaching the end, his lead is not very big. Teammate Sergio Pérez is currently second in the World Cup standings, 13 points behind. Charles Leclerc, who is in third place, is 18 points off the World Cup leaders.
