A used Citroen C2 is a great choice! Privileged press review: MOTOR No. 10/2024 | French.pl

Renault 5 E-Tech and Dacia Spring II generation appeared under the cover of the current issue of MOTOR every week. Among other interesting cars, you can also see Alfa Romeo Giulietta on the front page of the magazine. However, we are more interested in what MOTOR wrote inside the issue about the cars we love.

What brands do they write about: Citroën, Peugeot, Renault, Alpine, Dacia, Opel

It has just been mentioned Renault 5 E-Tech he is the hero of the article on pages 4-5. Editor Jurko (greetings to you, Wojtek!) described Renault’s new electric car with a style that strongly refers to its legendary ancestor, the Renault 5, which is also shown in the same photo under the article Today Renault 5 (E-Tech) has an electric car , but you might like it. The text also mentioned the Scenic E-Tech Electric (winner of this year’s Car of the Year award) and the Fiat 500.

And Scenic E-Tech Electric appeared – together with Dacia Spring II – in coverage of the Geneva Motor Show (page 7). I regret that I was not there – the permit was waiting, but my health did not allow me to go to Switzerland. That’s why – with great regret – I skipped this year’s Retromobile 🙁 But don’t worry – I’ll definitely go there next year!

On page 9, MOTOR showed the ADTZ Twin Tail – a sports car based on the Alpine A110 and referring to the Alpine A220 from 1968, created in collaboration with the Italian studio Zagato and the Polish dealer of exclusive brands (including Maserati and Alpine), The team.

The cars we are interested in are in the final of the Auto Lider 2024 plebiscite, which MOTOR reports on pages 10-11. Fiat 600e won in front of Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale, ie models from Stellantis group. It is in the main category. Among city and small cars, the Fiat 500 took the lead, and the Peugeot 208 took third place. In the group of urban SUVs and crossovers, Dacia Sandero Stepway received the most votes, ahead of the second Jeep Avenger.

Alfa Romeo Tonale it wasn’t competitive in the small SUV and crossover segment, and the Stelvio jumped to the very bottom of the loudspeaker in the mid-size SUV and crossover class. On the other hand, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe (I recommend to your attention our test of this model in the advanced version of the Conference Park) won in the SUV segment.

Another Jeep – Wrangler – took third place in the off-road and pickup class. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio also took third place in the sports car and convertible segment. In the commercial vehicle category, the Renault Master emerged unchallenged, and the Fiat Ducato took third place.

Dacia Duster appeared as a possible rival to BAIC Beijing 5 described by MOTOR on page 14-17 Dacia is cheap, which is very important in this segment.

In turn, the Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe played the same role as the Land Rover Defender described by MOTOR on pages 26-27.

A few years ago, the world was crazy about SUVs. One of the most interesting cars of this type in the compact segment is undoubtedly the Citroën C5 Aircross – a car focused on comfort. In the current edition, MOTOR rates this car in the segment Used (page 36). How does this original car compare?

It turns out to be very good. There are no “poor” or “below average” ratings. MOTOR rated equipment quality, performance, purchase prices, fuel consumption and parts prices as “average”. An “above average” rating was given based on interior spaciousness, materials, parts availability, service costs and faultless performance. MOTOR gave “very good” ratings for trunk capacity, ride comfort and noise, appearance and style, as well as serviceability. You should be careful with the 1.2 PureTech and 1.5 BlueHDi engines – they have their problems.

There comes a time when at some point the car has to be scrapped. MOTOR, on page 37, analyzes which cars are making their final journey to the Polish market. Most of them were Opel, Astra model. We also scrapped many Volkswagen cars. Corsas and Vectras were also often sent to scrapyards. The ninth most frequently abandoned car was the Fiat Punto, and the tenth – the Renault Scenic, but Renault was also the third most frequently abandoned brand.

The article also featured the Peugeot 206, Renault Magane, Laguna and Clio and the Opel Zafira. For manufacturers, Fiat was the fourth most frequently canceled brand in Poland, Peugeot seventh, Citroën tenth, Nissan fourteenth, and Mitsubishi nineteenth. In brand classification, the position comes from the popularity of a particular brand in the market.

MOTOR on pages 38-43 has an interesting list of alternative models for popular models on the aftermarket, which sometimes even use the same components. The article includes Alfa Romeo Giulia as a rival to Audi A3, Mitsubishi Lancer VIII to Toyota Corolla XI, as well as Opel Astra as one of the hits in the hard drive segment, and Nissan Qashqai as the most popular cars in the compact crossover. part.

And just when I thought that Citroën had been completely ignored by MOTOR (apart from its mention in the article about the cancellation), on pages 44-45 in that section. Used the C2 model appeared. I’ve had a similar car (well, my wife has) for over a couple of years. It serves us as a second, and at one point even as a third car in the family, so it still has more than 90,000 kilometers on the clock. This is one of the simplest versions, but it is enough for us.

MOTOR also mentions other Citroen models – C1, C3, Saxo, Xsara Picasso, and Peugeot 106.

I cannot agree with the statement that every version of the C2 had electric windows – ours does not and never has. However, I agree with the statement that the rear seats (yes, two independent, long-sliding and foldable in some versions) are not very comfortable to get into (a feature of the three-door body), and there is not much space. on them. However, it is enough for children.

MOTOR praises the confident handling of the Citroën C2 and the excellent compression of bumps, which, however, comes at the cost of a lack of comfort. But it’s a city car with a short wheelbase (231.5 cm), so don’t expect miracles in this regard. By its very nature, it is difficult to consider the C2 as the primary car in the family.

The advantage of the C2 was the range of engines – from the base 1.1 to the 1.6 16v sports (according to that were the R2 and R2 Max assembly versions with a power of up to 185 HP!) and diesel 1.4 HDi and rare 1.6 HDi. There were also manual (standard) and automatic gearboxes, but MOTOR does not recommend these – correctly.

In the case of our car, the car is completely indestructible and faultless. MOTOR rated the Citroen C2 four stars on a scale of five stars.

In part MOTOR Retro (page 46) there was a mention of the origins of the Opel Corsa.

And that’s all MOTOR wrote about the cars we’re interested in in the current issue.
