With a warm heart and warm words, the Gresini-Racing MotoGP team signaled the start of the 2025 season at Imola. One thing is certain: Nadia Padovani’s team faces a big challenge.
Defensive warfare. This is the culmination of the next 10 months of work for the racing team of Nadia Padovani – the widow of the team’s charismatic and successful founder Fausto Gresini.
Defense, because it was judged only on the facts, the team from Faenza came out the worst of all eleven teams in the transfer process of 2024/2025. Eight-time world champion Marc Marquez left – Fermin Aldeguer finished fifth in the Moto2 World Championship with plenty of talent but empty pockets of results. Alex Marquez remained eighth in the World Championship.
The role of the media officer is likely to undergo changes. Although his job in 2024 was to get the super rider Marquez safely through the crowd, the PR gem and #93 did the job himself. In 2025, press work will be needed to put Fermin Aldeguer in the media spotlight.
Gresini Racing did the first job. There was a big turnout at today’s team show at Imola. As with the Aprilia factory team, the management of Gresini also decided to hold a live event at home.
When the head of the Gresini Championship appeared on the event stage in front of hundreds of invited guests, what race in Italy stands for was visible – passion. Gresini has already been a pioneer in the past when it came to engaging partners and fans in the “MotoGP” lifestyle in the best possible way. The popular team network is just as large. Even individuals can be donors in Gresini.
The basic message of fighting for unity has not changed. Nadia Padovani referred to past events: “We cannot talk about 2025 without touching on 2024. Every weekend was magical with Alex and Marc. The victory in Aragon and then Marc’s victory in the Fausto format in Italy were unforgettable moments for all of us.
Then the confident team owner looked forward: “We have a lot of faith in Alex. To be clear – I see him moving forward and I hope he can finish in the top four every weekend. We also have great happiness and confidence in Fermin. But as a rookie he will need more time. However, we believe it will also make its mark as early as 2025.
Team manager Michele Masini added when setting the goal: “As far as Alex is concerned, we know what he can do and for us as a team it will be about bringing more consistency. We also rely on Ducati. We’re entering our fourth season together, they’ve already helped us tremendously and will continue to do so.”
After the unveiling of the MotoGP models it was clear: There are no big surprises visually either: Gresini remains Gresini. The two Ducati Desmosedici GP24 racing machines of Alex Marquez and Fermin Aldeguer are still dominated by the special baby blue paint. Since the technology of the GP24 is more than an introduction and corresponds to the condition of Jorge Martin’s winning bike, there was no innovation at Imola from a technical point of view.
Without punishment and sadness: Also because the Ducati Gresini Race does not yet offer any factory materials, it will be difficult to maintain the third place in the world championship of drivers and the team that Marc Marquez fought for. The biggest hope remains that Alex Marquez will be able to put on a fireworks display in GP24 that at least matches that of his brother Marc last season. Aldeguer’s talent is undisputed – individual highlights can be attributed to three young MotoGP players. It wouldn’t make Gresini’s reporter happy.
