Haas: Magnussen eighth, Mick Schumacher in front of the last! / System 1

Gentleman Kevin Magnussen saved the points at the race in Brazil, however. Mick Schumacher got eight places in the race, but that probably won’t save his career at Haas either.

Haas only wants to inform in a few days who will drive for the Americans in 2023. But the decision seems to be made – for Nico Hulkenberg and against Mick Schumacher. A good performance in the sprint didn’t help the German, who ran from last on the grid to 12th.

Mick says: “I had a good opening position and I was able to make a few laps at once. We were able to show good speed. There was a small problem with the engine, we still have to look at that. The grid position is a good starting point for the race.”

Even before the race, Kevin Magnussen suspected that he would not be able to get a chance against the drivers from the top teams: “I just want to score.” The Dane did it, eighth place in the race, one championship point.

Magnussen says: «This step is important in the battle against AlphaTauri. I always knew I couldn’t finish in the top three, I just wanted to do well in my condition. I secretly hoped that I could at least keep ahead of Lando Norris, but unfortunately that didn’t work out. But one point and starting in 8th place, that’s something to be proud of.”

Team manager Günther Steiner: “We have achieved our goal – one point and a good starting position. We are well prepared for the Grand Prix.”
