Range Rover EV: The new 4×4 electric SUV shows off in an ice cream cone

Land Rover has already revealed plans to produce an electric SUV in 2024 plans to produce an electric SUV by 2024, and with the year in full swing, the luxury car maker seems to be fulfilling its promises. As well as confirming the arrival of the Range Rover EV, Land Rover also gave a preview of its powertrain configuration, which is an in-house system assembled, but likely not built, by JLR. Land Rover says a new traction control system for its electric motors can direct power and torque to each motor – rather than relying on ABS torque transmission – with a response time of a fraction of a millisecond.

It is not known how many engines the Range Rover EV will have, but considering that the Range Rover brand has always had four-wheel drive, it is highly likely that there will be two engines. If what Land Rover says about its traction control system is true, the three- or four-motor setup will provide impressive performance in off-road or off-road conditions.

The exterior of the electric Range Rover, however, looks similar to the internal combustion engines – a design that has been updated recently enough that many consumers will still consider it modern, even a few years from now.

Launch and pricing are still unknown, but cold-weather testing like this typically takes place toward the end of the production cycle, suggesting a 2024 launch is possible.

If the Range Rover Electric is launched at a price close to $100,000 Tesla Cybertruckcould give the two American EV manufacturers a hard time in the luxury sector. Mercedes-Benz is also expected to launch an electric G-Wagon electric, while Audi’s Q8 e-tron ( ) showed off-road performance impressive off-road performance, despite its luxurious base.
