Hamburg Harley Days: HD celebrates 120 years

Harley-Davidson’s 120th anniversary celebration at Hamburg Harley Days was a huge success. Over the weekend of 19 to 21 May, around 60,000 motorcycle enthusiasts came to the scene on the Großmarkt in the center of Hamburg. This year was not only a milestone for Harley-Davidson, but also for the Hamburg Harley Days themselves, which celebrated their 20th anniversary.

Motorcycle culture festival

The guests, both Harley-Davidson riders and fans of the brand, enjoyed different programs. The festival site covered an impressive area of ​​about 40,000 square meters. Many merchants and servicemen could be found in what is known as Harley Village. A special attraction was the 30-meter-tall Ferris wheel, which offered visitors a spectacular view of the grounds.

Live action and music

The event did not only offer something for motorcycle fans. Polish motorcyclist Maciej ‘DOP’ Bielicki’s live performances created a sensation. Musically, the event was accompanied by bands such as Nazareth, Knuckle Head, Gráinne Duffy and Bonfire and 15 other bands played on two stages.

A special highlight was Harley-Davidson’s 120th anniversary. Many historical motorcycles were presented in this exhibition, showing the rich history of the brand. Modern motorcycles were much talked about as the latest models on the grounds of the Exhibition. These include Milwaukee’s latest models, such as the Nightster Special and Breakout. More than 200 visitors took the opportunity to test.

Exhibitions and special bicycle tours

On Saturday, the best V-twin racers from the motorcycle world gathered at the Custombike Show, supported by Metzeler and sponsored by the Harley Owners Group. They presented their unique creations to a jury of experts. But the focus was not only on looks, driving was not neglected either. During the guided tours, participants could explore Hamburg’s surroundings, such as the Alte Land and the Lüneburg Heath.

A big parade at the end

On Sunday, May 21, the event concluded with a grand parade. Around 5,000 motorbikes set off on a 30km farewell ride through Hamburg, which was enthusiastically celebrated by Hamburgers.

Ford offers the latest models

Ford, which, like Harley-Davidson, is also celebrating its 120th anniversary, was also represented at the event. They presented their latest models, including the Ranger and Bronco, as well as the latest evolution of the Mustang and the Mustang Eleanor, one of the Hero Cars from the movie ‘Only 60 Seconds’.
