The provisional entry list for the WEC round at Imola was announced / FIA WEC

37 cars were registered for the second round of the World Sportscar Championship (FIA WEC) at Imola. 19 hypercars racing to victory. At Cadillac there are only two designated drivers in the V-Series.R.

The FIA WEC completed the 2024 season opener in Qatar in March. The second race will take place on April 21 at the Imola track. The WEC has never existed before. However, there is still a certain sports car tradition in Imola. The first provisional start list for the event at Imola has now been announced. As expected, this has 37 cars – 19 hypercars and 18 LMGT3 cars.

As seen in the list, Cadillac will only compete in Imola with two drivers. This is Earl Bamber and Alex Lynn. In Qatar, Frenchman Sébastien Bourdais was also in the V-Series.R. Since the Imola race “only” lasts six hours, the problem over distance should be manageable for two pilots. In the past, two drivers per car were the norm in sports car racing. Cadillac also has a lot to do at Imola after being dropped from the Qatar race classification.

Otherwise, the Hypercar field is the same as in Qatar – ie no other driver combinations have been changed. In addition to the Cadillac, there are two Toyota GR010 Hybrids, two Peugeot 9X8s (which will make their debut in the 2024 edition at Imola), three Ferrari 499Ps, five Porsche 963s, two BMW M Hybrid V8s, two Alpine Lamborghini A424, SC63 and Isotta Fraschini Tipo6-C.

The component is also stable in the LMGT3 class. 18 cars from nine brands Aston Martin, BMW, Corvette, Ferrari, Ford, Lexus, Lamborghini, McLaren and Porsche are participating (with two cars per brand). At this stage the WEC has established a provisional entry list.
