A real invasion of historical war vehicles on May 5 in the Emmermeer district. More than twenty historic armored vehicles and forty volunteers from the Keep Them Roling foundation visited the Ergens museum in Nederland on Weerdingerhaag.
Keep Them Roling volunteers restore Allied military vehicles from the Second World War and attend events and tours, such as on 5 May. In this way they want to keep the memory of the war and liberation alive. A visit to Emmen would not be complete for history buffs without a visit to Erik Zwiggelaar’s war museum.
Wartime uniforms
Volunteers, all dressed in wartime uniforms, temporarily transformed the area around the museum into an open air museum. “There was a jeep, motorcycle or truck on every entrance to the area. I am very happy with the neighbors who help,” says museum owner Erik Zwiggelaar.
With the cars safely parked, the volunteers had plenty of time to explore the museum. ,,I know a lot of Keep Them Rolling people from events, but most of them had never seen my collection. Their enthusiasm spreads and that’s great publicity,” says the satisfied museum owner.
