The sports car was on its way to a vintage car show in Böblingen, but the journey ended in a tunnel wall near Leonberg (Böblingen district). Now the assessment should record the damage.

The sports car that crashed on Sunday in the Engelberg tunnel near Leonberg (Böblingen district) was worth two to three million euros. A Ferrari F 40 was on its way to a regular car show, a responsible car restorer said Monday. The newspaper “Bild” had previously reported. A police spokesman estimated the damage on Monday at around one million euros.

As the police announced, the 24-year-old driver skidded shortly after entering the Engelberg tunnel on Sunday and then hit the left and then the right wall. The young man was taken to hospital with injuries, but was not admitted as an inpatient.

Report in planning

The car restorer, who also sells cars, says he assumes minimal damage to the car from 1990. Based on the current condition, there was extensive damage to the body, it was said. An evaluation will be prepared. Ferrari will then rebuild the car.

The cause and manner of the accident are still unknown. In the past the police took too much speed or a technical fault.
