Jaguar was early with its electric SUV and expected great success. The I-Pace was named Car of the Year five years ago, it looks great, but it quickly fell apart.

Jaguar I-Pace controversy

In Holland there was controversy from the beginning. Jaguar drivers complained on television that the I-Pace range was too disappointing. A quick Google search would have told them that, but apparently they weren’t interested in anything other than a low extra tax.

The Jaguar I-Pace went from 3,526 sales in 2018 to just 770 in 2019, 466 in 2020 and 18 in 2021. The all-time low came a year later, when only eight people ordered one.

King Charles III

A used Jaguar I-Pace is available from 23,000 euros, but costs more than 80,000 euros. How is that possible? It once belonged to a famous person: King Charles III.

‘Jaaaggg’ was the first electric car of the British royal family. It was originally grey, but at Charles’ request it was painted dark blue. This is the only I-Pace in Loire Blue.

Elizabeth and Meghan Markle

Not only did King Charles ride in it, his mother, Queen Elizabeth, and Meghan Markle also sat in the back. The SUV was returned to Jaguar at the end of 2021.

Second owner 50,000 km

He had only 4,800 kilometers on the odometer at the time and was later stripped of the blue lights he had in royal service. The second owner later put 50,000 more kilometers on it.

The incredible Jaguar I-Pace will be auctioned in early March by Historics Auctioneers, with an expected yield of approximately 82,000 euros.
