Porsche Tennis Grand Prix: Marta Kostyuk is in the final

Marta Kostyuk surprisingly they reached the finals at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix 2024. He beat Marketa Vondroussova 7:6 (2), 6:2.

Kostyuk beat the top 10 players in Stuttgart

“That’s tennis, anything can happen. But I managed to win the match in two sets,” Kostyuk said, referring to his lost lead in the first round – he doesn’t need any extra excitement in his life. “I’ve had enough.”

Kostyuk also achieved a rare feat in Stuttgart, beating top ten players in Zheng, Gauff and now Vondroussova. “Most people don’t know this, at the beginning I had a record of 0:14 against the top ten people. So I had to follow.”

Kostyuk had to fend off five match points against Zheng.

Thanks to a strong week in Stuttgart, Kostyuk is climbing to new heights in the WTA rankings: she is currently ranked 21st in the live rankings, higher than ever. With a win in the final he would make it to the top 20.

In the final, the 21-year-old, surprisingly, not against two-time winner and defending champion Iga Swiatek, but against Elena Rybakina. They had suffered their first loss to the world number one in the first semi-final at the Porsche Arena.
