Acura Integra Falls 16% While Honda Civic Sales Rise 36% In Q1

Although sales grew by more than 20 percent to start the year, Acura struggled, with sales down nearly 10 percent.

  • Overall Honda sales increased by 20.9% in Q1 2024, with the Civic leading the charge with a 36% increase. The CR-V also saw impressive growth of over 41%.
  • While Honda thrived, Acura saw a 9.2% sales decline. This decline was due to a decrease in demand for the Integra (-15.8%), TLX (-29.3%), and MDX (-26.8%).
  • The RDX was the only Acura model to experience positive sales growth in Q1, with a significant increase of 48.6% compared to the previous year.

Honda Civic sales are up at the start of the year, but its chassis partner, the Acura Integra, is facing poor results. Unfortunately for the near-premium brand, this reflects a broader trend of declining sales in Q1 2024.

In total, Honda managed to move 61,929 Civics in the first three months of the year, 36 percent more than in 2023, when it sold 45,548 vehicles. That growth made the Civic the second best performing car in Honda’s lineup, behind only the CR-V.

The crossover also celebrated a strong start to the year, with sales growing by more than 41 percent, to a total of 95,038. Although Accord deliveries were down 2 percent, 41,927 examples left the showroom making it the third best performing car in the lineup.

Both the Accord and CR-V were powered by their optional hybrids. Their strong sales helped the manufacturer sell a total of 61,915 electrified vehicles, 25.5 percent more than a year ago, leading to Honda’s best Q1 performance for hybrid vehicles.

Honda Brand Sales, Q1 2024

Overall, Honda was able to sell 303,451 cars to start the year. That was an impressive 20.9 percent improvement over a year ago, when it sold just 251,042 vehicles. It’s also better than the Acura brand does.

On the other hand, Acura sold only 30,373 vehicles in the first quarter of 2024, 9.2 percent less than the previous year, when it moved 33,465 vehicles. As mentioned above, that was due to decreased interest in the Integra (-15.8 percent), TLX (-29.3 percent), and even MDX (-26.8 percent).

In fact, the only Acura whose sales improved in early 2024 was the RDX. Americans bought 10,117 SUVs, 48.6 percent more than they did a year ago, when they sold just 6,809 models of the vehicle. That made this the best Q1 ever.

There is a silver lining for Acura enthusiasts, though. Despite the decline in overall sales, 12 percent of all Integra buyers chose the high-performance S-Type trim. That’s something.
