Horrific crash: Danilo Petrucci got it wrong / World Superbike Championship

Danilo Petrucci has had a number of accidents and injuries throughout his career, but the Ducati rider’s accident during motocross training was one of his worst – and it had a devastating effect.

Danilo Petrucci’s accident happened on Thursday at the Cingoli motocross track and he was contacted by his Barni team in the evening. There was talk of a broken right collarbone and jaw. None of these are pleasant injuries, but in terms of severity, they are not serious.

Now the Ducati rider has reported himself from the hospital and just by looking at the 33-year-old you can guess that he was badly beaten. What is more surprising are the wounds on his face, which is completely swollen.

“I lost control before jumping. Instead of stopping, the motorcycle accelerated. I flew away and fell to the ground. It was one of the scariest falls of my life,” Petrucci explained on his Instagram account. “A few teeth have fallen out and the jaw is broken in two; “There were also fractures of the collarbone and shoulder blade as well as skin bruises.”

Considering the extent of the injuries, it is clear: Barni Racing will need a replacement for the 2024 World Superbike Championship meeting in Assen in a week. It would be possible to use Michele Pirro, who participates in the Italian championship for the Ducati team. Ducati’s official test rider won the season opener at Misano on 6/7. April both races.
