RIMINI – Luxury and beauty combined with speed and driving pleasure. For its 110 years of history, Maserati has presented itself with a new jewel: the GranCabrio Folgore. The Trident cabriolet loses the endothermic engine in favor of an electron without, however, sacrificing performance and driving pleasure. The Folgore system is actually based on 800 V technology and was developed with technical solutions provided directly from Formula E.

A third example of electricity, after the GranTurismo and the Grecale, the GranCabrio extends the Folgore range, continuing the Trident electrification strategy. Unveiled at the Maserati Folgore Day event, with an event called “Made in Thunder”, the new arrival from the Modena company is the first 100% electric four-seater convertible in the luxury segment and is currently the fastest growing business. .

They started at Maserati GranTurismo and GranCabrio function parallel. This allowed us to have two cars that perform well and have very similar characteristics. At the aesthetic level, the style center in Via Ciro Menotti has unified and balanced the lines of the coupé version, transferring them to the cabriolet. The style continuity is unmistakable: the circular grille with the Trident logo in the middle, rounded wheel arches, reminiscent of old racing cars, and muscular sides. A modern touch is provided by the LED headlights and taillights.

A distinctive feature of the GranCabrio Folgore of course it is on the canvas. Available in five colors (Black, Sea Blue, Titan Grey, Greige and Granata), it can be driven up to 50 km/h, opens in 14 seconds and closes in 16. Everything has been carefully designed to ensure an airy ride without compromise. . A neck warmer keeps the neck warm while allowing you to travel with the top open even in cold outside temperatures, while a wind deflector helps reduce turbulence in the passenger compartment.

Look inside you can appreciate the technical and sartorial character typical of Maserati, without neglecting the environment. In fact, for the GranCabrio Folgore great use was made of sustainable materials such as ECONYL, nylon regenerated by processing fishing nets and textile waste. The seats, with a good profile, are the perfect combination of sportiness and comfort, just as the dashboard has a sporty but, at the same time, classic style.

A digital instrument panel is missing, flanking the Head-Up display, along with the central touchscreen and Digital Clock. In addition, the MIA (Maserati Intelligent Assistant) multimedia system allows you to easily control the main functions of the car, such as trip planning and recharging stations. In addition to enjoying a completely silent drive, you can choose a digital sound signature based on the music of the V8 developed by Maserati. The GranCabrio Folgore does not have a sound system specially designed by Sonus Faber.

The convertible inherits from its sister GranTurismo Folgore, an electric powertrain born from the experience gained in Formula E. The car is powered by three motors, one at the front and two at the back, with permanent magnets and driven by silicon carbide alternators derived from those used in song. Each engine can be controlled independently to make the torque distribution more efficient and, therefore, the car faster even on the most driven parts. All this translates into a total installed power of 1,200 HP which becomes 760 HP unloaded at the wheels and, in MaxBoost mode, 830 HP in short time.

Be a Maserati, GranCabrio Folgore can only have two souls dedicated to comfort and high performance. The convertible reaches a top speed of 290 km/h and covers 0-100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The driver can also choose between four driving modes: Max Range, GT, Sport and Corsa. The first favors efficiency by reducing the maximum speed to 130 km / h for freedom. In GT the available power is 80%, while in Sport the power is higher with a stiffer configuration. Finally, the Corsa is designed for use on the track, reducing the interference of electronic controls to a minimum.

High strength characteristics they are guaranteed by a frame that uses lightweight materials, for example aluminum and magnesium as well as high performance steel. This translates into high torsional rigidity, despite the absence of a hard roof, and a small increase in weight. The 92.5 kWh battery is able to guarantee up to 447 kilometers of autonomy in the WLTP cycle. Through fast charging, up to 270 kW in direct current, the GranCabrio Folgore can be charged from 20 to 80% in just 18 minutes.

In addition to the six primary colors, Astro White, Absolute Black, Modena Blue, Giada Green, Incognito Gray and Maratea Marate Grey, the GranCabrio Folgore can be highly customized thanks to the Maserati Fuoriserie program which also features unique interior combinations. Come summer, the Trident powertrain will be offered with prices starting at 210,000 euros.
