Ice Speedway Supercup: Home Victory for Haarahiltunen / Ice Speedway

In the third attempt, the ice racing world champion Martin Haarahiltunen won the Swedish Supercup for the first time this season and thus took the lead in the overall standings.

In the third Ice Speedway Supercup race in Sweden, opening winner Niclas Svensson returned to the field after sitting out the race in Strömsund. Franz Zorn, on the other hand, was absent with a damaged leg and has already started his journey home to Austria.

The race started badly for Martin Haarahiltunen with a retirement in the first race, but then he did not have a world champion match and the Swede remained unbeaten in his further matches. Due to the lost points, the local hero had to qualify for the final of the best of the day through the last heat of the position, as Niclas Svensson, Heikki Huusko and Lukas Hutla put in front of him.

In the last place, Max Niedermaier was ahead, but fell back and Haarahiltunen was able to hold off Finn Max Koivula and Swede Jimmy Hörnell to reach the final.

Initially Hutla led in the final, but in the second lap Haarahiltunen was able to overtake the Czech, who dropped back to fourth place in the third lap. In the fourth lap, Niclas Svensson found his way past Finn Huusko to complete Sweden’s double win.

After three races in three days, the Supercup will rest next weekend before the final two events take place in Gävle and Bollnäs. Max Niedermaier is the best German in sixth place in the transition rankings, Luca Bauer, who scored seven points in Örnsköldsvik, is tenth, Maximilian Niedermaier is 14th.
