BMW brand launches the most expensive car in the world

For the same price you would get the new Rolls-Royce Ghosts 70: The luxury brand presents a design that has never been seen before.

Rolls-Royce has its own very special car department: the luxury brand creates its own unique models in the so-called Coachbuild program. A unique piece of – almost – priceless value was created here.

The Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail follows two equally unique convertibles, but it’s a completely different car. What the three models have in common, however, is the attention to detail with which Rolls-Royce worked. The Arcadia is not only painted white, but its paint has small aluminum and glass particles that make the car shine in the light.

What is a coach building?

During the construction of coaches, individual bodies are designed based on existing vehicle platforms. Especially in the early days of the car, the bodies were made by hand and mounted on the chassis from the car manufacturers. Famous coachbuilders such as Ghia and Pininfarina created exclusive models for especially wealthy customers. Today, coach building is being revived by luxury car brands because it is good for their image and makes a lot of money.

Wood processed for 8,000 hours

Santos rosewood from South America was used for the interior. The heavy and hard wood is of very high quality, but also very difficult to work with: more than 8,000 hours of work go into processing and painting more than 230 wooden parts of the car.

  • By the way: Despite its name, Santos rosewood is not real rosewood. Instead, they are used as firewood instead of endangered and protected tropical trees.

Two years of work went into the clock

Another highlight of the interior is the clock arranged in the center of the dashboard, which took more than two years to develop. With 119 components, it has the most complex dial that Rolls-Royce has ever installed in a car. And this number is not accidental – but a tribute to the brand’s 119-year history.

Under the hood of the Arcadia Droptail is a V12 engine with a displacement of 6.75 liters and two turbochargers. This engine produces 593 horses.

What is Arcadia?

In Greek mythology, the landscape of the Peloponnese mountains was seen as a perfect place full of natural beauty and harmony and the home of happy shepherds.

Rolls-Royce has not announced the price of the replacement, which completes the individual pieces “Amethyst” and “La Rose Noire”. According to media reports, it will cost the equivalent of 23.4 million euros.
