Acura’s 2025 MDX Finally Loses Its Fickle Touchpad For 2025

Acura’s 2025 MDX Finally Loses Its Fickle Touchpad For 2025

of Acura the touchpad infotainment interface has been previously described by Jalopnik writers using words like “hate” and “distraction sensitive,” but Acura finally it has freed them MDX away from the oppressive metal shackles of its touchpad controller and replace it with an intuitive touchscreen setup. That is the main news in this year 2025 Acura MDX refresh, with a few new styling tweaks, grille designs, paint colors, and a new 31-speaker Bang and Olufsen stereo that is available on MDX S Type, although it is a standard there.

The new MDX touchscreen infotainment system it’s moved a little closer to the front seat occupants, and while it remains the same size at 12.3 inches, the entire screen is now available, so users can minimize the tiles on the right side of the screen and have a full wide screen. Apple CarPlay or Acura’s original infotainment. This new Google based system is very intuitive to use and works easily. Fortunately, the MDX retains its climate control, seat heating, cooling, and massage buttons, although the volume button is still placed lower next to the push-button shifter. Instead of 2024 Acura MDX’s console-mounted armrest and touchpad infotainment controls, the 2025 MDX has an undisguised wireless phone charging pad, and an expanded but still small storage void that looks like the perfect place for a stack of nifty pens.

Aside from the infotainment upgrade, the MDX doesn’t get many major changes for 2025. Acura revised its active safety features, now called Enhanced AcuraWatch, which are used in all MDX models. In interior, The Milano’s new 16-way power adjustable leather seats are now optional on most trims, and feature 9-way operation. Stereos have been upgraded across the range, too, with the base system receiving two more speakers for a total of 11, system upgraded offering three additional speakers for a total of 19, and the Type S gets a 31-speaker Band system by Olufsen and 12 Speakers in the headliner. Acura it wouldn’t let me test the audio system when I reviewed the car, citing a critical software update.

The MDX lineup doesn’t receive any changes to its powertrains, so all MDX models come standard of Acura A naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 that produces 290 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque, and the exclusive. Type S trim, the Acura MDX Type S with the Advance Package, packs a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 that produces 355 horsepower and 354 lb-ft of torque. Both engines send their power through a 10-speed automatic transmission, but the Type S’s transmission is “sport tuned.”

The 2024 Acura MDX was a high-end luxury SUV that was hampered by a lackluster infotainment interface. Acura finally fixed the infotainment for the 2025, and now we have even less to complain about. Although updates are limited, the new Acura MDX is a great choice for families looking for style, safety, space, good value and fun driving dynamics enhanced with its new user-friendly infotainment system.
