The WEC will be at Imola next weekend for the second race of the 2024 season (April 19-21). The World Endurance Championship starts at the traditional Italian circuit for the first time in its recent history. Last Friday, the WEC committee published the revised Balance of Performance for the two classes Hypercar and LMGT3.
All nine hypercar brands, except for the new Peugeot 9X8, witnessed an increase in performance and weight reduction at the same time. Local champion Ferrari and WEC world champion Toyota have made the most of the new BoP, which those involved can adjust before each individual race weekend and which has to be created specifically for the track.
Ferrari and Toyota are allowed to download more
On the course, which is not known for LMH and LMDh cars, two factory Ferrari 499Ps and a yellow customer car from AF Corse are each allowed to unload 34kg of BoP weight. This means that Italian hypercars weigh 1,041 kg. Toyota GR010 hybrid, which is at The breakfast of the season in Qatar was a big stumble, we received a discount of 29 kg and therefore a minimum weight of 1,060 kg.
Ferrari can also expect an increase in the maximum system output of 7 kW, which corresponds to almost 9 hp and leads to a car power of 510 kW (693 hp). After an increase of 6 kW, the Toyota now has 516 kW (701 hp). For both manufacturers, the maximum energy also increased by 2 mega-joules. The creators of BoP pursue the goal of using a secret key to bring all hypercars into a window of parallel performance.

The new Lamborghini SC63 (1,034 kg and an output of 516 kW) received only a weight reduction of 7 kg, but gained 14 kW of additional power.
