Images of Saskatchewan’s winter and the Canada Games are preserved in a display at the Regina International Airport (YQR). The display, which opened in late January, pays homage to the province’s rich history and culture of winter sport.

An assemblage of photographs, artifacts, and memorabilia commemorate the winter season and the Canada Games, a bi-annual event held in various Canadian cities since 1967.

The display includes photographs of athletes competing in various winter sports, including hockey, curling, skiing, and snowboarding, as well as images of Canadian wildlife. There are also items such as medals, pins, and banners from past Canada Games, as well as a replica of the Canadian flag that was flown at the Canada Games in 1967.

According to YQR, the display serves as a reminder of the important role that winter sports and the Canada Games play in the province’s history and culture.

“We wanted to create an exhibit that celebrates the rich history of winter sports in Saskatchewan,” said YQR CEO, Stephen Barry. “The Canada Games have been an important part of our province’s identity for over 50 years, and we’re proud to showcase these accomplishments at the Regina International Airport.”

The display is located in the main concourse of the airport, near the security checkpoint. It is open to all passengers and visitors, and is free to view.
