Indiana State Police K-9 to get donation of body armor

The Indiana State Police Department’s K-9 Unit recently received a donation of protective body armor, which will enable their dog handlers to better protect their canine partners in the line of duty.

The donation was made possible through a collaboration between the Indiana State Police Foundation and the nonprofit organization Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. The body armor, which is manufactured by Armor Express, is designed to protect four-legged officers from bullet and knife wounds.

“Our K-9s are an invaluable asset to the Indiana State Police and our communities,” said Steven D. Townsend, Superintendent of the Indiana State Police. “These protective armor pieces will provide an additional layer of security and peace of mind for our K-9 handlers as they work to keep our citizens safe.”

The armor, which is valued at $1,744 each, is custom made to fit each individual dog, and is designed to provide optimal protection and comfort.

“Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is honored to partner with the Indiana State Police Foundation and to provide the K-9s with this lifesaving body armor,” said Sandy Marcal, Executive Director of Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. “We are committed to helping law enforcement agencies protect their K-9 partners, and this donation will make a significant impact in the lives of the officers and their canine companions.”

The Indiana State Police K-9 Unit is a full-service unit that provides a wide range of services to the state, including drug detection, search and rescue, tracking and apprehension. The unit is composed of highly trained and experienced handlers, who are dedicated to protecting and serving the citizens of Indiana.

“The Indiana State Police Foundation is proud to support the K-9 Unit and their important work,” said Joe Hoage, Executive Director of the Indiana State Police Foundation. “We are thankful to Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. for providing this generous donation, which will enable the dog handlers to better protect their four-legged partners in the line of duty.”

The Indiana State Police Foundation is a non-profit organization that provides support for the Indiana State Police. The Foundation works to ensure that the troopers have the necessary resources and equipment to carry out their duties in the most effective and efficient manner.

With the donation of the body armor, the Indiana State Police K-9 Unit has the tools to better protect their canine partners, so they can continue to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Indiana.
