Imola, free practice 2 Bonduel leads

The cold morning gave way to a warm spring sun that finally warmed up the Imola circuit. This allowed the protagonists of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe to further reduce their playing times. The higher temperatures, along with the more rubbery track, allowed Amaury Bonduel to set the best time in the second free practice. The 2023 World Finals winner, in his last attempt, stopped the clock in 1’41”302, almost half a second better than the one recorded in the morning.

In second place was the Target Racing pair of Largim Ali and Oliver Söderström who, at the end of the session, paid a gap of 668 thousand from the Belgians. Iron Lynx ProAm crews Claude-Yves Gosselin and Joran Leneutre were in good form and, as well as setting the class reference, achieved the third fastest time overall. After finishing the morning session in eleventh time, the VSR duo Andrea Frassineti and Ignazio Zanon managed to find the correct configuration of the Huracán Super Trofeo Evo2 by signing fourth time.

Rounding out the top 5 was the Leipert Motorsport crew, with Jacob Riegel going off the track in the final minutes and causing the second red flag. Sixth place for Mattia Michelotto and Gilles Stadsbader who finished ahead of the first Hampus Ericsson, at the wheel of a Lamborghini managed by Target Racing. Georgi Dimitrov and Edgar Maloigne, who had signed references this morning, have fallen to twelfth place.

Piergiacomo Randazzo and Stephane Tribaudini appeared in Am. Twenty-fourth overall in 1’43”752, the VSR pair was just five hundredths ahead of Stephane Guerin. Donovan and Luciano Privitelio dominated the Lamborghini Cup, stopping the clock at 1’44”792. The drivers had to collide in the middle of the session due to a red flag caused by Jáchym Galas going off track.
