With a five-seat EQC, Mercedes-Benz entered the field of mass mobility. The car is based on the best-selling combustion engine GLC.

But sales figures are modest. Even in its best year of sales, it did not have 4,000 new registrations in Germany.

That is one of the reasons why it will be completed in May next year – after only four years. Business Insider has internal documents proving this.

The Stuttgart-based Mercedes-Benz group intends to stop building its first all-volume electric model, the EQC off-roader, next year. This is indicated by the internal documents from the paid manufacturer which are available from Business Insider. The all-wheel drive was only launched in mid-2019.

The secret letter to the sales partners of the label “Stern” contains the heavy text “Production up to the decade of 3/05/2023” in a series cited by the manufacturer and work code N 293. Translated from the common word in Mercedes-Benz, this means that the car will be repaired for the last time in the third third of May next year.

1147 EQC registration is known for the first half of this year. The launch of the EQC market in the prestigious US market, which Mercedes-Benz originally intended, never took place.

The Mercedes-Benz group currently has six types under the product label and “EQ” technology: two sedans called EQE (V 295) and EQS (V 297), three EQA SUVs (H 243), EQB (X 243) and EQC and Van EQV. In addition, the Smart car brand has city EQ Coupé and EQ Cabrio races in its range. Swabians want to significantly expand their range of electric vehicles. In the SUV industry, among other things, parallel derivatives of EQE and EQS will be provided.

Three more productions stand out

Mercedes-Benz presented the Stromer EQC, which is based on its standard GLC route, in early September 2018 in the Swedish capital Stockholm. At the time, Dieter Zetsche acted as CEO.
