Your official adventure vehicle has arrived: the 2023 GMC Canyon Midsize truck. Advanced technologies and a new interior design, the next-generation Canyon is built from the ground up to conquer almost any terrain.

The 2023 Canyon features the first-ever Canyon AT4X in its lineup. Building on the success of the AT4 model, the AT4X model is the ultimate expression of GMC’s commitment to delivering exceptional off-road capability. First released in the 2022 Sierra, the AT4X version has been synonymous with solid off-road credibility.

The 2023 GMC Canyon will be the first midsize truck on the market to offer the first set of key features, including:

This is the Canyon AT4X

The Canyon AT4X is purpose-built to be a no-compromise, high-quality off-road truck. Priced higher than any other Canyon offering, the Canyon AT4X offers rugged all-terrain equipment and advanced technology for increased capability and convenience, no matter where you go.

Inspired by the Canyon AT4 concept launched in 2021, the Canyon AT4X features a raised, wider track to improve performance and all-terrain capability. The Canyon AT4X comes standard with 33-inch MT tires, DSSV shocks from Multimatic differentials, front and rear eLockers, underbody skid plates, and AT4X-only Baja Drive Mode.

The stock Canyon AT4X lift system offers a market clearance of 10.7″ and a 36.9 degree approach angle.

Inside, the Canyon AT4X features a unique Obsidian Rush cockpit with Ceramic White accents, an 11.3″-diagonal touchscreen entertainment system, and an 11″-diagonal digital instrument cluster. Additionally, the AT4X includes GMC’s unique head-up display system and Bose audio entertainment system.MD seven speakers. Strong off-road equipment

The 2023 Canyon and Canyon AT4X were designed to provide customers with the ultimate off-road experience. The next-generation Canyon features key features across its lineup that provide customers with improved performance and rugged ability to take you anywhere. This includes the following:

  • Original lift system and wider track: The Canyon comes standard with an off-road suspension package including a wider track and a 2″ lift system for the Altitude, AT4 and Denali and a 3″ lift system for the AT4X version. The raised, longer and wider chassis offers a standard 9.6″ ground clearance (10.7″ optional ground clearance for the AT4X version) to provide improved approach, rear overhang and ramp angles.
  • Multiple DSSV shock absorbers: The latest DSSV Multimatic shocks (standard with the AT4X version only) deliver rugged performance combining on-road control and comfort, with rugged performance for long off-road adventures.
  • 2.7L turbo engine optimized for off-road driving: Standard on all trims, the 2.7L turbocharged off-road engine delivers a maximum torque of 580 Nm (GM estimate).
  • Improved front and rear electronic lock differentials for improved traction: Standard on the Canyon AT4X trim, available front and rear eLocker differentials on the 2023 Canyon allow the driver to engage the front or rear axles to lock both wheels at the same speed.
  • Off-road performance demonstration: With a display accessible from the center display instrument cluster, Canyon 2023 riders can access real-time data from their off-road adventures, including G-force, altimeter, pitch and roll.
  • New storage types: The 2023 Canyon introduces all-new driving modes, designed to give customers the ultimate driving experience:
    • Baja mode (except AT4X) : for driving off-road at high speed

Refined exterior and interior design

The 2023 GMC Canyon presents a completely new image, accentuated by its bold appearance, powerful exterior styling and refined interior.

Each version of the 2023 Canyon is longer and wider than the previous generation to provide improved handling, rear overhang and ramp angles. For this new generation crane, the front spoiler has been removed to allow for a higher approach angle, while the front axle has been moved forward to improve balance and promote a stable and level stance. A simplified set-up for the short box and travelers is standard across the entire 2023 Canyon lineup.

The exterior of the 2023 Canyon is distinguished by its high ground clearance, sculpted corners and a new sheet metal combination for a truly unique look. The front end features LED exterior lighting, relocated fog lamps (standard on Denali, AT4 and AT4X trim and optional on Altitude trim) and daytime running lights. The 2023 model year also has an optional sunroof, a first for a midsize truck.

Under the car, the Canyon AT4X features a large, heavy-duty AT4X front plate, a skid plate for the transfer case and under-guards to deal with rough terrain. The 2023 Canyon also introduces a waterproof rear door storage system for increased bed functionality (standard on Denali, AT4, AT4X trim and optional on Altitude trim). Inside, the 2023 Canyon offers premium appointments and deliberate design execution to evoke superior craftsmanship and precision. Across the range, no interior is the same. Each edition of Canyon is designed with its own unique identity. The Canyon Denali Edition features laser-etched wood trim and leather accents, while the Canyon AT4X’s interior is distinguished by exclusive Ceramic White and Obsidian Rush trim.

Production of the 2023 Canyon is expected to begin in early 2023 and the AT4X version in the summer of 2023.
