Jeep Renegade but cheaper and better value for money? It’s not a dream: this car exists, and it comes from India.

If an SUV is the model of your memory car, most likely one of your dreams will be to own a Jeep Renegade. Sport utility vehicle for quality of American production is not just a classy car but a true status symbol. Especially which is always reflected in the price, which is not available at all: not less than 25,000 euros.

But if you really can’t resist the Jeep Renegade’s muscular and powerful design, there may be a simpler solution for your pockets. In fact, a well-known Indian car manufacturer has created a car almost identical to the famous Jeep, but at a much lower price. Mahindra is now a very popular brand in Indiabut it is still little known outside Asia, and which deserves a little discovery here too.

Indeed, since 2010, the Indian car manufacturer has been producing a car called Mahindra Thar, which looks very similar, in terms of aesthetics, to the Jeep Renegade. For sure that for someone it would be a real violation of the intellectual property of the Jeep product (which, let’s remember, has been controlled by Fiat since 2014). The Mahindra Thar is an evolution of the Legend, in turn based on the MM540, and is a very effective machine in India, also for its performance.

The aesthetics of the car made in Mumbai is muscular and strong lines, with a decidedly modern style compared to its predecessors. The Mahindra Thar has a wide vertical grille, prominent bumpers and flared wheel arches. It also has a special removable canopy, either hard or soft, depending on your choice. The infotainment system is also modern, with a touch screen, connectivity, USB ports and connection to a smartphone that works via Bluetooth.

But it is clear that its biggest point is its very favorable price, especially compared to that of other SUVs with similar characteristics. It can be found it is sold for only 17,520 euros. The Mahindra Thar can be purchased in a version with a 4-cylinder petrol engine, capable of producing 150 HP and a torque of 320 Nm. Or also in a diesel version, in a 4-cylinder version that produces 116.93 HP and 300 Nm. of torque, or in 4 cylinders, 130 HP and 300 Nm of torque.
