Recently, we had the opportunity to see for ourselves. It happened when we picked up the keys to the Jaguar F-Type. A 2-seater sports car, which has nothing to do with driving economy, and also with a lot of practicality. But he can do something else perfectly. Put a big smile on your face from ear to ear.

Jaguar F-Type entered the offer of this British manufacturer in May 2013. The PREMIERE of the model took place earlier, in autumn 2012, during the Paris Motor Show. The car was supposed to be a memory of the legendary E-Type and provide great driving pleasure.

The Jaguar F-Type may be mistaken by some for the successor to the XK. However, it is clearly small, because its body is only 4,470 millimeters long, of which the wheel is 2,622 millimeters. The width of the car is 1923 millimeters and the length is 1307 millimeters. Therefore, we will not enter Makro with it.

The Jaguar F-Type is offered in a closed Coupe body and a Convertible version with an opening roof. Unfortunately, the British have already officially confirmed the sad news. In 2024, this model will end its life, so if you feel like buying something stupid, you have to hurry a little.

We got the keys to the P450 AWD R-Dynamic Convertible. Initially, we can already reveal that this is probably the best driver configuration available in this model. It gives us good performance, confidence to drive, good engine sound, and of course the wind in our hair.

When you lift the bonnet, which by the way opens in front, your eyes will see a powerful “oven”. We are dealing here with the same engine as in the case of our beloved Jaguar F-Pace SVR or Range Rover Sport. Of course, we are talking about the big 5.0-liter V8, which is helped by a supercharger to increase its power.

Such a kit gives us 450 horsepower, which is available only at 6000 rpm. We also have a lot of torque, as much as 580 Newton meters. Available from 2,500 to 5,000 rpm. You can really drive this car fast, despite the fact that the car is not light and weighs 1793 kg.

In fact, you can feel the weight more strongly on the front axle, where the big engine is located. Cornering, on the other hand, does not cause problems, the steering system precisely guides the wheels where the person behind the wheel wants them. The suspension also gives a lot of confidence, but at the same time it is not angry when driving an ordinary city car.

According to the manufacturer’s statement, after pressing the trigger with steel, we will reach a speed of 100 km / h in just 4.6 seconds. The car will stop accelerating only when the speedometer shows 285 km / h. With this model, however, you can enjoy driving even with a lot of quiet movement.

Especially when we press the magic button in the middle of the middle tunnel. In just 15 seconds, the fabric roof is lowered and the sounds coming from behind us become louder. We will not forget the first gas for steel in the tunnel. The noise of the V-eight can be very frightening.

In addition, there is a bullet when changing the gears of the 8-speed automatic gearbox. After a few kilometers you know exactly when to hit one of the paddles on the steering wheel to make an endless roar from the four exhaust tips.

The sound of the engine can be very addictive. So much so that we don’t see that very strange numbers start to appear on the on-board computer. Well, who would have thought that a car would burn more than 30 liters per 100 kilometers when driving in the city?

However, if we want to save a little, which is rare in this car, we can reduce fuel consumption in the city to 11-12 liters per hundred. On the road, driving at a constant speed of 140 km / h, we will burn an average of 9.4 liters per 100 km, and going down to 120 km / h, the result will decrease to 8.5 liters.

The fuel tank has 70 litres, so we can cover the distance on one refueling. However, this car was not bought for the best combustion results. The Jaguar F-Type was designed to bring as many smiles to your face as possible. The British even have a word for it: smiles per gallon.

In Jaguar F-Type this is very good. Once you get behind the wheel, you will power yourself out of the car. Especially that the interior itself is made here with great class. In our copy, there is red leather upholstery, which contrasts beautifully with the matte gray varnish.

Probably only a few will decide to paint the body with it. Jaguar wants PLN 50,370 for the Ultra Metallic SVO satin finish. For the highest amount you can leave the showroom with the new Dacia Sandero! In our opinion, the most reasonable solution is to buy an F-Type in one of the primary colors.

Then it is worth going to a certified studio that will cover the entire car with PPF foil in any color. Not only will it be cheaper, but it will also protect the body of the car. We will also receive a variety of colors that we can wrap our Jaguar in to make it one of a kind.

Back to the interior, it’s lovely here, although it can be difficult for more adults. High-quality equipment and great fit immediately suggest that we are dealing with a premium product. Unfortunately, it is not always clear.

We can only stick to the brightness level of the touch screen in the middle of the dashboard. When the bright sun shone from above, not everything was very clear about it. The operation of the infotainment system itself was also not the fastest on the market.

Meridi’s sound system deserves praise. Sure, we like the sound of the V8 engine better, and we often drove with the music off. However, sometimes there comes a time to relax and the desire to listen to your favorite piece. Then these speakers will meet our expectations.

In fact, the practicality of this car is not much debatable. The luggage compartment of the version with the opening roof is small and has a capacity of only 233 liters. Enough carry on bags for a weekend trip for two people. When buying this type of car, you definitely know the limitations.

And how much should you pay for such a “fad on wheels”? Currently, the Jaguar F-Type price list starts at PLN 362,400 in Polish showrooms. For this amount you get a car with a Coupe body, under the hood of which there is a turbocharged 2.0 R4 gasoline unit with 300 horses, which goes to the rear wheels. The same variant in Convertible version costs PLN 399,400.

In addition, the price list includes three variants powered by the 5.0-liter V8. Currently, they are only available in the ’75’ special edition, bye for example. At the top of the offer is the Jaguar F-Type R 75, which offers 575 horsepower and an AWD drive. The Coupe version costs PLN 754,600, and the Convertible PLN 793,000.

In our opinion, the golden mean is the F-Type 75. It is a very unique version that we had the pleasure of testing, that is, producing 450 horsepower. Here, along with the Coupe and Convertible versions, the customer can additionally choose whether he wants a car and a wagon all-wheel drive or rear-wheel drive only.

The list price of the F-Type 75 starts at PLN 608,200 for the RWD Coupe, or PLN 643,700 for the AWD Coupe. The most attractive version of the Convertible costs PLN 649,400 or PLN 685,000, respectively. Well, unfortunately, you can’t hide it – it’s very expensive and only a few can afford such a “toy”.

Our copy is the R-Dynamic version, which cost PLN 595,000 for the base. Adding additional equipment, such as satin varnish (PLN 50,370), Meridian Surround Sound speakers (PLN 23,090), or Pixel LED lights (PLN 8,880), finally increased the price to PLN 754,880.

For such a lot of money, you can buy completely different cars that will provide more practicality, will be faster from 0 to 100 km / h, or will allow you to save money in operation. Therefore, the choice of Jaguar F-Type must be a careful choice of every customer. However, we are sure of one thing, for the price you get a very effective medicine for a serious condition.
