In an unexpected pairing, popular YouTuber Jake Paul and Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer have formed an improbable alliance, linked by a shared passion for custom Lambos.
The two, who hail from different worlds, have become fast friends in recent months, bonding over their mutual enthusiasm for the luxury vehicle.
Paul, a 23-year-old social media star, is the younger brother of fellow YouTube celebrity Logan Paul. Lauded for his prank-filled videos, he boasts 18.7 million subscribers on the platform. Poyer, a 28-year-old NFL player, is entering his seventh season with the Bills. His accolades include a Pro Bowl nod and two All-Pro selections.
This unlikely twosome first connected in March when Paul spotted Poyer’s custom Lamborghini Huracan and shared a photo of it on Instagram. The two men then began exchanging messages and eventually met up in Los Angeles.
Poyer, who had recently acquired the car, said he was initially taken aback by the attention. “I didn’t know if it was a joke or what,” he told The Washington Post.
It wasn’t until Paul invited Poyer to his mansion in Calabasas, Calif., that the latter realized the YouTube star was serious. The two spent the weekend together, hanging out and talking cars.
“We clicked right away and got along really well,” Poyer recalled.
The pair have since kept in touch and even purchased matching Lambos. Poyer now owns a black Huracan and Paul a white one.
“We just kind of thought it would be cool to match,” Paul said.
The YouTuber, who recently launched an apparel line, said he was particularly impressed by Poyer’s work ethic, noting that the NFL star trains all day and works on his own businesses at night.
“It’s cool to see somebody who’s at the top of their game,” he said.
The two men have yet to determine when they’ll take their Lambos for a spin, but Poyer said he’s already looking forward to the experience.
“I’m sure it’ll be a blast,” he said.
