Jeep’s iconic Gladiator and Wagoneer 4xe models could be set to make an appearance at the 2021 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah, as the automaker looks to capitalize on the growing interest in electrified vehicles. The newest iteration of Jeep’s popular off-roader is powered by a 4xe powertrain, a combination of traditional gasoline and electric power that offers improved efficiency, performance, and off-road capability.
Jeep has yet to officially confirm its plans for the Easter Jeep Safari, but there is speculation that the automaker is planning to debut its 4xe models at the event. In recent years, the Easter Jeep Safari has become a mecca for Jeep enthusiasts, and the addition of the 4xe models would add to the excitement.
The 4xe powertrain combines a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an electric motor and battery pack, providing a total system output of 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It’s an impressive powertrain that should give the Gladiator and Wagoneer 4xe models a significant boost in performance.
The 4xe models also benefit from improved efficiency, with estimated fuel economy ratings of up to 25 mpg combined. The electric motor also provides an instant boost of torque for improved off-road performance, allowing the 4xe models to tackle the toughest terrain.
Jeep’s 4xe models are also equipped with a variety of advanced tech features, including a 7.0-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as an 8.4-inch touchscreen. Safety features include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
If Jeep does indeed debut its 4xe models at the Easter Jeep Safari, it would mark the first time the automaker has showcased its electrified vehicles at the event. It would also be a major milestone in Jeep’s journey to becoming a leader in the electric vehicle market.
