The new Dacia Spring is not only the cheapest electric car, but also one of the cheapest cars in general

You can now order the new Dacia Spring, a compact electric city car, in Poland. Dacia Spring, which may seem quite a surprise, has become cheaper. Yes, no joke.

The price of the new model starts from PLN 76,900. The new Dacia Spring will be available to order in Poland from April 17, and the first cars will be delivered to customers in September.

Groupe Renault announced that the Spring model, launched in 2021, has sold more than 140,000 units since its debut in Europe. The year 2023 was even better, it was a record year. The brand sold 61,803 vehicles worldwide – 26.4% more compared to 2022. The Spring is the third best-selling electric vehicle on the consumer market in Europe and certainly contributes to the popularity of electric vehicles. Its popularity, however, did not result much from any special values ​​of use, but only from its low price.

It seems that the owners of the brand understood this perfectly. Because when last Spring it started to be more expensive and soon it cost more than PLN 100,000. PLN, which today cannot be a very high amount for a new car, was a very high price compared to what the Spring model offers, but the new version of the model has become very cheap.

The Dacia Spring design is in line with the brand’s new style launched with the new generation Duster model. Not only the bodywork was changed, but also the interior. Apparently the roof is the only thing kept from the previous version of the electric minivan.

The new Dacia Spring is available in 6 body colors, with Safari Beige and Brick Red appearing in the range for the first time.

Our experience in creating vehicles based on the principle of design to cost has enabled us to build on the success of the competitive electric car offer and introduce the new Dacia Spring range – better equipped, with a range of 225 km on the WLTP combined cycle – at a price of less than €20,000. – said Xavier Martinet, sales and marketing director of Dacia.

In the cockpit of the new Dacia Spring, the driver can rely on the Media Control multimedia system installed as standard in the Essential and Show versions. It is an easy system to operate using the buttons on the steering wheel and displaying multimedia and phone information on the digital instrument cluster screen. It also includes two speakers, a Bluetooth connector and a USB port.

The top-of-the-line Extreme edition (or by paying extra for the Expression edition option) has a richer Media Nav Live system. In this case, the driver has an extra 10 inches of center touchscreen with built-in satellite navigation package and Internet access (8-year free subscription), including real-time traffic information and a regularly updated map of Europe. In addition, it enables wireless operation of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications. The Media Nav Live system is supplied with two USB-C ports.

Driver assistance has also been modernized. The new Dacia Spring is equipped, among others: in: active emergency braking system (urban/suburban conditions with car, pedestrian, cyclist and motorcycle detection), road sign recognition system with speed warning over speed, rear parking assist, emergency brake warning, lane departure warning, maintenance assistant mode, driver alert monitoring. system and emergency call (eCall). To make life easier for its customers, Dacia has introduced the smart “My Safety” button, which allows drivers to quickly access their favorite settings for driving assistance systems. This means you can configure your car without the speed limit alerts that annoy many drivers and activate this settings template with one button.

When it comes to driving, there is no revolution here. Dacia Spring has not been a speed demon, although it was originally offered as a more powerful unit with 65 HP now available in the Expression version. The basic and cheaper version of Essential uses a weak engine with a power of 45 HP. The most powerful unit will accelerate Dacia Spring to 100 km/h in less than 14 seconds, the weaker one needs less than 20 seconds.

Weighing 984 kg in the High Reduction range, the new Dacia Spring is the only 100% electric car in Europe weighing less than one tonne. Compared to the previous version, the weight of the same level of equipment has increased by only 6 kg (or 0.6%), despite the many driving assistance systems required by applicable regulations, as well as improved finishing and equipment fitted as standard. Such low weight combined with the high efficiency of the new Spring’s drive unit translates into low energy consumption, below 14.6 kWh/100 km, reducing running costs.
