The final big bike test of the year will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday next week at the Circuito de Jerez. The weather promises to be sunny and pleasant. Who will be there?
The rules of the World Superbike Championship do not prohibit testing in December or January, but in reality this period is rarely used for test rides. The weather has not changed in southern Spain for several years now. Rain or low temperatures often made serious attempts impossible and long journeys ultimately turned out to be a waste of time and money.
The Jerez test on November 26 and 27 will probably be the last opportunity to complete a regular test this year – according to the weather forecast, sun and 22 degrees Celsius are expected. However, considering the few days of testing, only a few teams have been registered.
It was widely known that Superbike restorer Bimota was leaving with Alex Lowes and Axel Bassani. Marc VDS rider Sam Lowes is the only Ducati representative there. The new Kawasaki Puccetti Racing factory team is sending Garrett Gerloff to the track. The Pata Prometeon Yamaha factory team will also test with Jonathan Rea and Andrea Locatelli.
While the Superbike department of the Honda Racing Organization is conspicuous by its absence, four MotoGP riders will test in Jerez.
BMW sends a test team with only Sylvain Guintoli and Markus Reiterberger. However, after the Aragon test collapsed, world champion Toprak Razgatlioglu indicated that he would like to test the new M1000RR later – but definitely not next week.
Super sports teams Petronas Honda (Kaito Toba, Khairul Idham Bin Pawa), Ten Kate Yamaha (Stefano Manzi, Yuki Okamoto) and Renzi Corse Ducati (open) have been registered.
