5 reasons why you should (not) buy the Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport

Yesterday Bugatti removed the curtain from the chic Profilée, but last year Autovisie was already introduced to the amazing Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport. We give you five reasons to (not) order a hypercar from Molsheim.

Not that you allow your choice to be based on this article of course, but still. Chiron Pur Sport, limited to 60 copies, needs some explanation. What makes it so special?

Minus: above average speed

A Bugatti should be able to reach at least 400 kilometers per hour, right? After all, the Veyron broke that magical barrier in 2005 and since then the figures have been part of Bugatti’s furniture. Well, the Chiron Pur Sport doesn’t achieve that. Electronically the limit is 350 km/h…

Plus: lights

There is a reason why it can ‘only’ go 350 km/h. This Pur Sport must be the most beautiful and powerful Bugatti of the impressive Chiron family. By electronically reducing top speed, Bugatti has the opportunity to fit a lighter set of wheels, which saves four kilograms of unsprung weight per corner. But the weight is saved for more points, as Autovisie editor Dries van den Elzen tells you in the video below.

Plus: it’s more flexible than ever

Bugatti has also modified the wheel geometry for the Chiron Pur Sport. For example, it has 2.5 degrees of extra heat all around for road cars, to achieve higher cornering speeds and improve handling. This is also only possible if the top speed is low, because otherwise the inside of the tires would be too fast.

The engine still produces 1500 hp and 1600 Nm, but the rev limit comes only at 6900 instead of 6700 revolutions of the crankshaft for additional flexibility. Infections have been thoroughly checked; 80% of the parts are new. The seven gears have been spaced 15 percent closer and reconfigured to achieve higher speeds. The result is a 0-300 sprint in about 11.5 instead of 13.5 seconds, a huge difference.

Minus: one of many Chirons

It must be said: Pur Sport is another limited edition of the Bugatti Chiron. Because with this version, there are also Sport, Super Sport, and Super Sport 300+. But for this Pur Sport you have to pay 3.2 million euros, excluding taxes. Sure it’s expensive, but that’s also relative. It seems a safe prediction that the Pur Sport will retain its value forever. Because some will spend their days in museums as works of art, the maximum number of 60 Purs games built will be treasured and used by a certain group of enthusiasts. Because of the pure experience that really everything that makes driving a car with a combustion engine so much fun, served squarely. Very similar to the cars that introduced the Bugatti name in its early years.
