The Pagani Huayra R Evo with protruding roof panels is optimized for performance and safety

Pagani has unveiled its latest open-top hypercar, which pushes the boundaries of performance and design. The latest Huayra R Evo takes inspiration from IndyCar and Le Mans performance cars that are built to take it to the limit. The long tail shape is particularly influenced by the Huayra R, as Horacio Pagani was particularly impressed with the single-seater design during the Formula Indy race in Nashville.

Horacio couldn’t help but appreciate the sky screens, protective polycarbonate surfaces that replace the two roof panels for an indoor-outdoor connection while witnessing the sweet roar of the engine in his ears. From that moment the idea of creating a beautiful, powerful and balanced car was born. As a result, this generation of Huayra R took two years to complete.

Designer: Pagan

At its heart, the Electrified R Evo is powered by a Pagani 6.0-liter V12-R Evo engine, capable of producing 900 hp (at 8,750 rpm and 567 lb-ft of torque). That extra power comes from a trumpet design for the camshafts, multiple intake manifolds and a modified exhaust system. Now that level of performance on paper has to compete with the gasoline-powered icons of endurance racing. A six-speed sequential gearbox weighing just 176 pounds (developed in collaboration with HWA AG), 280/680 R19 Pirelli P Zero Slick front and 345/725 R20 rear tires, helical springs, electronically controlled shock absorbers, add moisture. and dual-wishbone suspension further improves handling.

The race-ready electric Pagani can hit a top speed of 218 miles per hour and is just as capable when it comes to stopping power, courtesy of new CCM-R carbon ceramic brakes and standard racing pads. The 45 percent downforce can be attributed to a four-inch front splitter (with ductwork cooling system support), a 7/5-inch rear, a stiffening center fin and of course a rear wing. The open-top configuration further adds a 5 percent improvement in power reduction. The result is that the Huyara R Evo generates less than its weight of 2,337 at 199 mph which is quite impressive.

On the inside, the hypercar is encased in fire-resistant material and a six-point harness system and carbon fiber headliners with side protection pay the way for safety. Pagani will offer buyers a choice of left- or right-hand drive configuration which is expected from the customer-oriented Italian marque.
