MXGP world champion Jorge Prado is speaking officially for the first time in a blog about his upcoming fight against Honda’s top racer Jett Lawrence in the USA.
The upcoming motocross season brings a new dimension to outdoor events in the United States. There, Honda’s top flight Jett Lawrence will now be joined by American newcomer Jorge Prado. After his second MXGP title, his fourth world title overall, the 23-year-old Spaniard has joined the US factory Kawasaki team – he will be a teammate of veteran Jason Anderson.
In Supercross, the 2025 season will definitely be the year to get used to the Prado. Things may look different in the US off-season starting in May. Fans can now look forward to another protagonist who, like Jett Lawrence, has a clean driving style. At the Motocross of Nations at Matterley Valley, Lawrence was the fastest of the two acres. “I don’t know how good Jett is and how good I am compared to him,” Prado said recently in an American blog about the upcoming challenge. “If I feel good with the Kawasaki on the outside track and I can ride like I did this year, I should win the race.”
Unlike Supercross, where Prado had his first experience in the United States at the beginning of 2024, he is still unfamiliar with the outdoor slopes of motocross. “I’m curious, maybe these slopes suit me better than the MXGP ones,” Prado says. “Let’s see if I manage it or not. I feel I can do it. If anyone can do it, it’s me. I have a good start, I’m physically fit and I can ride the bike fast.”
Regarding his new home Kawasaki, Prado said: “I am sitting on a very good motorcycle, I hope I will have a good feeling in the race.”
