Report: Aerodynamics of 2026 cause problems / Formula 1

Next season, i.e. 2026, new aerodynamic rules will be introduced. The program is active aerodynamics. But this now seems to cause serious problems in early simulations. What can be fixed.

The next rule change in Formula 1 will come into force in 2026. Aerodynamics, among other things, are greatly affected. But this now seems to cause problems.

As motorsport.com reports, simulations by several teams have shown difficulties with the first models of the 2026 cars. Accordingly, the prototypes are said to be unable to run in the configuration with the lowest air resistance.

The problem was probably caused by the fact that the balance of aerodynamics changed too much with the planned work aero.

According to the report, the FIA world body is said to have already sent staff to manufacturers’ factories to get an idea. A possible solution plan: For active aerodynamics, not only to make the rear wing movable, but also the front wing. If both work together, it can be easier to maintain balance.

Red Bull Racing team boss Christian Horner told the publication: “I think there has been good progress. Because the FIA has taken the feedback and some changes have already been made. But Horner did not reveal who they were. Now we wait for the chassis rules.
