T6.1 owners will appreciate the familiar seating position, wider door panels and higher position of the gear lever in the new generation Transporter. The new digital cockpit has an easily configurable 12-inch display (Digital Cockpit with a diagonal of 30 cm) and a 13-inch touchscreen (diagonal with 33 cm) which houses the standard infotainment system including DAB+ and Wireless App Connect with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. . Also standard: a new multifunction steering wheel with buttons that are easy to operate, even with gloves. Like on Multivan and on ID. Buzz, the new Transporter now also has an electronic parking brake with Auto Hold feature. The parking brake control has been moved to the dashboard, allowing free passage to the rear, depending on the equipment selected.

There is now a smartphone storage compartment in the center console with optional wireless charging. Other devices can be charged via up to seven USB-C, USB-A and 12-volt interfaces. In addition, the new Transporter can also be optionally equipped with a 230 V (400W) power outlet including an inverter for powering large electrical appliances.

5.8 to 9.0 cubic meters of cargo space

The new Transporter is equipped with a panel van and two separate seats at the front as standard. There are also optional three-seater seats in the first row and a three-seater bench seat in the second row.

The new transporter is 5,050mm long, an increase of 146mm over its predecessor. The wheelbase has been extended by 97 mm to 3,100 mm and there is an optional wheel that is 400 mm longer (total length: 5,450 mm). At 2,032 mm, the exterior width of the Transporter has increased by 128 mm compared to its predecessors (without exterior mirrors). The maximum width between the wheel arches has increased significantly by 148 mm to 1,392 mm. The height of the cargo area on the floor of the standard wheelbase Transporter measures 2,602 mm, or 61 mm more than its predecessor. With an extended wheelbase, that length increases to 3,002 mm. The large loading volume with standard wheelbase and for all drive variants has been practically increased by two moving boxes and is now 5.8 m3. The long-wheelbase, high-roof version offers up to 9.0 m3 of space.

The maximum payload of the Transporter with the diesel engine is now 1.33 tonnes. The new generation Transporter with a diesel engine can also tow trailers weighing up to 2.8 tonnes.

In September, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will unveil the all-new Transporter at the IAA in Hannover. Pre-sales will begin after the summer.
