Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2023): Price/Auto

Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2023): Price/Auto

Mazda responds to the criticism and has given the Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2024) more internal genes. This is the price and interior of a small car, which is only available with automatic transmission!

Price: Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2024) from 24,990 euros

Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2024) is here at the beginning – with a unique look and innovative equipment. Technically, the subcar still has nothing to do with the regular Mazda2, but remains a restyled Toyota Yaris. Mazda uses a blunt form of badge engineering to reduce the CO2 emissions of its fleet. At the same time, customers can choose between a large range of Mazda2. There, the fully restored hybrid is the most expensive version of the car at a price of 24,990 euros (from April 2024). From the manufacturer Toyota, the Yaris Hybrid car costs 500 euros less. Also interesting: Tips for our products on Amazon

Drive: Still 116 HP system output

The Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2024) remains true to itself in terms of driving. As before, the 1.5-liter three-cylinder gasoline engine combined with the electric motor produces a system output of 116 hp (85 kW). With an acceleration time of 9.7 s from zero to 100 km/h and a top speed of 175 km/h, it makes progress considering its condition. Toyota recently confirmed that there is more power in the car with the Yaris facelift announced at the beginning of 2024: 130 hp (96 kW) and the new transaxle automatic transmission can do their job there. There is no alternative to the Mazda2 Hybrid’s continuously variable automatic transmission. The Japanese model adopted by Mazda also boasts a combined WLTP consumption of 4.0 to 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers.

Competitors:

Exterior: Much improved

Although the Mazda2 Hybrid received a lot of praise for its economical drive, it received more criticism for its uninspired design, which was completely adopted from the Toyota Yaris except for the brand logos. With the facelift, the brand has made major improvements and painted its Kodo design on the front. Thanks to the new radiator grille and front apron, the small car no longer looks like a foreign body in the showroom and can even be described as attractive. The area between the taillights no longer screams Toyota. Efforts would be great for more visual editing in this price-conscious car class. Stylistic changes do not change the dimensions. The Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2024) continues to measure 3940 mm in length, 1745 mm in width and 1505 mm in height.

Interior: Bigger screen

Screen development, which is almost mandatory for model updates, is also offered for the Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2024). There is now a seven-inch to 12.3-inch speed display behind the steering wheel, while to the right of it the infotainment screen grows to nine or optionally 10.5 inches. A variety of accessories from the Main Line to the Station Line, Exclusive Line, Homura and Homura Plus are also new. Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a reversing camera, cruise control and automatic air conditioning are on board as standard, while the more expensive versions have, for example, a heated steering wheel, large alloy wheels, phone charging smart inductive or advanced screen. .

Support systems: Now with emergency stop function

New to the Mazda2 Hybrid Facelift (2024) is low-speed driving assist and an emergency stop function. The latter intervenes if, for example, the systems realize that the person behind the wheel is unconscious. Front parking assist, rear parking assist and brake assist and lane change assist are also available as options.

Driving feel: Economical, especially in the city

The new Mazda2 Hybrid (2024) is well equipped for everyday urban life. The drive impresses with its high efficiency and at the same time runs quickly. With its very compact dimensions, the Mazda also fits into a small parking space.

Our conclusion

It’s interesting that Mazda is now integrating the 2 Series Hybrid into its portfolio as a facelift and overhaul of the much-criticized design. The only question is why this idea was not thought of when the engineering of the badge began in 2022.
