Drives: As diesel, full & plug-in hybrid

Only four-cylinder engines are also available in the Kia Sorento Facelift (2024). Powertrains include plug-in hybrids such as a more powerful engine with all-wheel drive, a full hybrid and a 2.2-liter diesel – each available as front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. The diesel has two eight-speed manual transmissions, the two hybrid models have a six-speed automatic.

Nothing changes with the diesel, it continues to develop 194 hp (142 kW). With the combination of a 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbo gasoline engine and an electric motor, the full hybrid now has a system output of 215 hp (158 kW), so it has lost some horsepower. The same applies to the plug-in hybrid, which now produces 252 hp (185 kW) instead of 265 hp (195 kW) in the pre-facelift. It is not yet known how far the PHEV with its 13.8 kWh battery can drive on electricity alone. So far the Sorento has managed up to 57 km (WLTP). The towing capacity of up to 2.5 t will most likely remain unchanged.

The SUV is now more oriented towards the recently presented EV9 and therefore looks more progressive. The two big Koreans share the same vertical headlights and, last but not least, the same silver lower body guard. Unlike the EV9, the Kia Sorento Facelift (2024) still uses the “Tiger Nose” grill, which in turn has been slightly modified for the Sportage. In addition, the Kia logo is now emblazoned on the bonnet, which has also been changed, instead of on the grill. Also new is a digital car key (“Digital Key 2.0”), with which a smartphone can be used as a car key, a digital interior mirror that displays images from the rear camera and a fingerprint authentication system mounted on the dashboard. in the middle This allows you to activate an individual profile and start the car.
