The Maserati GranTurismo and Grecale can be ordered as electric cars

After several delays, Italian luxury car maker Maserati has now unveiled its first two electric models and published more information about its electrification strategy. The two-door GranTurismo Folgore electric sports car can now be ordered from over 200,000 euros and the mid-size Grecale Folgore electric SUV from over 124,000 euros. Maserati uses the suffix “Folgore” – Italian for “electricity” – to identify its electronic-only models.

The powertrain of the GranTurismo Folgore was developed using technologies from Formula E, such as: B. Silicon carbide inverters for better energy flow and higher efficiency. GranTurismo Folgore can travel up to 450 kilometers on a single battery charge.

Maserati Grecale Folgore is a fully electric SUV with a battery capacity of 105 kWh, which takes up to 500 km. With 368 kW (500 hp) and 800 Nm of torque, it reaches a top speed of more than 200 km / h.

According to its own statement, Maserati believes “more than ever in the future of electric mobility” – which the Italians describe for the coming years as follows: The first two electric cars should be followed by the GranCabrio Folgore this year. The MC20 super sports car is scheduled to have an electric drive in 2025, and the large electric SUV above the Grecale is scheduled for 2027.
