Koenigsegg unveils the Gemera, the world’s first four-seater megacar with sunroof windows

It launches the first 4-seater megacar

Koenigsegg launches Gemera, dubbed the world’s first 4-seater sports megacar decorated with sun visor-shaped windows. The Gemera combines the features of a mid-engined, two-seater megacar through its engine characteristics with the performance of a full-fledged four-seater, yet is small enough to fit into a suitcase for traveling in one car. The sports megacar describes itself as a large car that can be shared by four people instead of the usual two-seater arrangement found in supercars.

From the outside, the Koenigsegg Gemera features a silhouette that is long, sleek and compact, while retaining the car brand’s iconic aesthetic. Before the occupants enter, the butterfly doors slowly swing open to allow them to enter. Sports car seats with memory foam and in brown leather are combined with black interior accents, and the Koenigsegg Gemera seats four tall adults in comfort with a dedicated cargo space inside. In the trunk of the car, they can fit around four other luggage boxes, showing the huge storage of the Koenigsegg Gemera megacar.

Developing Koenigsegg Gemera engines

During the development of Koenigsegg Gemera, the Light Speed Transmission (LST) was introduced in the Jesko car brand model where the setup removes the flywheel and clutch from the engine. The same style is then incorporated into the Gemera megacar, which features an improved Tourbillon Light Speed Transmission (LSTT).

It’s a four-wheel torque vectoring drivetrain that can be powered by an 800 horsepower Dark Matter E-motor or TFG twin turbo, or a combination of the two, giving the megacar a maximum output of 1400 and 1850 horsepower. . By combining the LSTT with the Dark Matter E-motor, the Gemera drive becomes lighter, smaller and faster.

Koenigsegg Gemera electric drive

With a new electric drive system and improved use of the engine’s rev range, the Gemera’s speed and performance have improved compared to the previous version. Along with this, Koenigsegg Gemera also gets a version called HV8 (Hot V8). Initially, putting a mid-engined V8 configuration in the Gemera seemed impossible due to its spacious interior and compact size.

However, for the LSTT layout, Koenigsegg made it work by converting the Jesko V8 into a Moto V8 configuration, where the exhaust exits through a high center. With this new HV8 engine, Gemera now offers 1500 horsepower, in addition to the 800 horsepower provided by the Dark Matter E-motor. This is a total of 2300 horsepower and 2750 Nm of torque, setting a new world record for a production car.
