Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut production continues, high-speed test in 2024

Production of the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is now underway, so the company is turning its attention to the speed record attempt.

The automaker showed the first customer Jesko Absolut inside Instagram post a few days ago. Around the same time, the founder Christian von Koenigsegg said in interview with the Swedish publication Carup that the company would try to set a new speed record for production cars later this year.

Debuting in 2019, Jesko is offered in Absolut and Attack configurations. The Jesko Attack is a top-down version, while the Absolut is a low-drag version designed for high speed. Only 125 cars will be produced in total, with the split between the Absolut and Attack models determined by customer demand. All production was sold in 2022 despite the price of $ 3 million per car.

In 2020, von Koenigsegg said the Jesko Absolut will be the fastest car Koenigsegg will ever makeā€”but just how fast remains to be seen.

In an interview with Carup, von Koenigsegg said theoretical models based on the gear and power curve have shown a top speed of 310 mph. That would beat the Bugatti Chiron, which won the race to 300 mph in 2019 with a top speed of 304.7-mph.

Bugatti’s record is disputed, however, because the automaker drove the car in only one direction, instead of recording the average of two directions, as is the standard procedure for speed records. The fastest two-way average speed on record is 282.9 mph, set by the SSC Tuatara in 2021, beating the previous record of 277.9 mph set by the Koenigsegg Agera RS in 2017.
