After chaotic F1 Chinese GP, Verstappen wins ahead of Norris and Mclaren – Le Mag Sport Auto

There are no surprises in Shanghai, despite the twists and turns, for the 2024 F1 Chinese Grand Prix. Starting from pole position, Max Verstappen dominated the race, unconcerned by the restart, following the interruption of the race. On the other hand, at the back, there were problems, especially in the second part of the peloton.

F1: No Red Bull twice in Shanghai

However, this time, the Red Bull Championship leaves without a double. Sergio Perez losing in third place, behind Lando Norris. Excellent result for Mclaren, finally faster than expected, in race mode. Much to the shame of Ferrari and Charles Leclerc, once again placed but outside the podium (4th). Carlos Sainz finished fifth followed by George Russell and Fernando Alonso, also the record holder of the fastest lap in the race.

Oscar Piastri finished the event in 8th place ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Nico Hulkenberg. Haas scores points again, despite – once again – the questionable severity of the officials, who severely penalized Kevin Magnussen for 10 seconds, for a simple touch. Lance Stroll but also Logan Sargeant were sanctioned with the same penalty. The Canadian blasted Daniel Ricciardo’s Bulls at the start of the restart. Too bad because the Australian was on course for a points finish. For his part, the American was guilty of overtaking Hulkenberg – who was leaving the pit lane – against the racing line.

In the French Alpine region, progress has been confirmed. Unfortunately, Esteban Ocon failed in the points gate, not far from Haas. It is encouraging, however.
