According to the report, it is not clear how the vehicles ended up in the hands of the police. However, in canyon auctions, these often result from confiscations as part of traffic violations, bankruptcy cases or criminal investigations.

The Lamborghini was seized by the law enforcement authorities of the state of Aargau. “We have never had an auction where a luxury product like a Lamborghini was sold,” says Bernardino Barbati, head of the lost property office of the Security Directorate (SlD), for “20 Minutes”.

“Business” for everyone

“We want to give everyone the opportunity to get a business,” says Barbati. Therefore, the minimum offer will be below the market value.

The auction will take place on the grounds of the state lost property office on Oristalstrasse, on the outskirts of Liestal. According to the Security Directorate of Basel-Landschaft, the inspection of the car is possible from nine o’clock and the auction starts one hour later.

Bicycles from 5 francs

Two other luxury cars will be auctioned in the auction. In addition to the Lamborghini, interested parties can also bid on two BMWs, the X4 and X6. In addition, four motorcycles and 145 bicycles will go under the hammer.

Anyone who wants to buy something at a public auction like Liestal’s, but the expected price of a Lamborghini is too high, can breathe easy: the minimum bid price for a bike is already five francs.

Maybe that’s not enough for Lamborghini, on the contrary. Barbati insists as a precautionary measure: “If it happens on Saturday that, for example, a Lamborghini is sold for more than 100,000 francs, the remaining payment must be made through a financial institution such as a post office or a bank.”
