Lexus on the rise: sales to grow by almost 50 percent in Europe (2024)

It can’t be easy, being the only Japanese payment brand left on the Old Continent. For example, Nissan’s Infiniti disappeared from the European region a few years ago and the luxury branch of Honda Acura never even flew to our region. However, Lexus did and still does, and the results are often different… Although this time it might happen to Toyota’s more attractive sibling.

Waiting for LBX

Toyota Motor Europe has published its sales figures for the first quarter of 2024, and Lexus in particular will interest us. The brand managed to sell a total of 19,160 vehicles and before you say it: that doesn’t bring the Japanese anywhere near, say, 160,000 Mercedes units. Last time they sold fewer cars than in the same period last year, that figure for Lexus means an increase of no less than 48 percent compared to Q1 in 2023… And then their most available model is yet to arrive.

At the moment, the best-selling Lexus is still the NX, which sold 7,186 units across Europe, followed by the RX with 3,684 units and the UX with 3,520 units. The number ‘X’ in the top 3 already shows how important the SUV has become at Lexus and that is certainly good news for the new LBX. This compact hybrid has just entered production and therefore does not yet play a major role in the figures of the last quarter, but considering its low price and popular size, Lexus expects this to be its new bestseller … So what do you think: really Japan’s top train is gaining steam now?
