A new electric car from Tesla’s main competitor has a bit of Lamborghini in it

Still little known in Europe, the Fang Cheng Bao brand, which belongs to BYD, Tesla’s main competitor, is starting to attract attention in China. And even more so after the presentation of a very interesting concept car that is dominated by very high models from the leading European manufacturers.

In the galaxy of the Chinese giant BYD, there is a brand that was created in 2023 and which, until now, did not make much noise. His name is Fang Cheng Bao, a hybrid Chinese luxury brand and electric car owned by BYD. The brand was presented in June 2023 and produces SUVs, but also more exotic models.

At its Spring Conference, Fang Cheng Bao presented four new electric vehicles: two SUVs, the Super 3 (Bao 3) and the Bao 8, as well as a fast concept called the Super 9. The Super 9 is an interesting model in more ways than one since when it was designed by Wolfgang Eggert, head of design at BYD and above all a former member of the Lamborghini and Audi houses.

Range of expansion

Currently, Fang Cheng Bao is releasing a car on the market, Bao 5 (which can also be translated as “Leopard 5”) and had previously teased two other SUVs, Bao 3 and Bao 8. The presentation of the Super 9 was somewhat of a surprise, and a great communication move to make this young brand known elsewhere than China.

Fang Cheng Bao Super 9 is an attractive two-seater sports car with wing-opening doors. This model is already planned to go into production under the name Bao 9. However, information is still scarce about it. We don’t even know if it’s an electric model (although there’s a good chance) or a plug-in hybrid.

European influence?

When you look closely at this product, you can’t help but think so The manufacturer was somewhat influenced by the trend among the top manufacturers these last years. There we find a bit of Ferrari Monza SP2, Aston Martin Speedster or even a bit of McLaren Elva.

The price of the Goal 9 will certainly not be the same as the other three mentioned above, which certainly offer a dream segment without spending more than a million euros as requested by Ferrari, l ‘Aston Martin and McLaren.

The car also features BYD, as it has the number 30 on the side to celebrate with little anticipation the 30th anniversary of the Chinese group. Super 9 will be officially launched on April 25, at 6 p.mth edition of the Beijing Motor Show.
