Thanks to the original 5.2-liter V12 engine with 455 hp, the angular LM002, which weighs almost three tons, was able to reach a speed of up to 223 km / h – a crazy value for an off-road vehicle in the 1980s .

By 1993, 301 examples of the absolutely insane LM002 were built, whose owners had to be well beaten. In addition to the new initial price of DM 220,000, LM002 drivers had to count on the consumption of more than 40 liters per 100 kilometers. It is good that the off-roader has a large tank. How loud the sound is will probably vary. Information varies between 169 and 290 liters.

But what if even this road veteran with a supercharged V12 is still too ordinary for you? The Sultan of Brunei was faced with this question. Hassan al Bolkiah, his real name, is a car enthusiast whose incredible collection is said to have numbered 3,000 to 7,000 cars and motorcycles at its peak and is one of the best-kept secrets in the automotive world.

In the 80’s and 90’s, Sultani had countless cars from various manufacturers made to his specifications. Including the special Lamborghini LM002 Shooting Brake, which has now resurfaced and tells an interesting story.

The silver monster is a one-off that was commissioned by Lamborghini and built by the Diamante company. The special feature is that the LM002 no longer has an open loading area, but has a completely closed structure. There is no trunk, instead the LM002 offers space for ten people.

In fact, three LM002s were converted to bullet brakes, but only this one was officially approved by Lamborghini. Thanks to the new design, the road car should not only be longer, but also more than 500 kg heavier, which means it should have a permissible gross weight of more than 3.5 tons.

Unfortunately, this is not only because of the design, but also because of the luxurious furnishings. In addition to three bench seats and two individual seats for the rear passengers, the LM002 also has a tube television on board – a real luxury in the 80s.

However, the Sultan did not keep his special reforms for a long time. With only about 1,800 km, the Lamborghini was sold to its second owner, none other than former BMW, VW and Scania boss Bernd Pischetsrieder, who even gave the LM002 a German registration where the increased permissible weight was also included.

But the story takes a turn for the worse because Pischetsrieder sold the Rambo-Lambo to Sweden, where it was allegedly used by a third owner to take children to school.

Filip Larsson, founder of Motikon, pursued the very special LM002 for years before finally being able to purchase it a few years ago. The LM002 then remained in custody until Larsson decided at the beginning of the year to keep the angular off-road car and give it a new look.

The remote financial method should be brought to a visual and technical look, but without losing the original charm. Despite its age, the black leather interior is in surprisingly good condition and should only be repaired with care.

Although LM002 prices have risen sharply in recent years, and nothing is available for less than 300,000 euros, 50,000 euros for a set of tires is simply absurd. However, it probably won’t stop the Motikon team from restoring the unique LM002 to its best condition. After all, this is a piece of automotive history and the ancestor of all today’s performance SUVs.
