Acura wins after the anthology duel!

After an epic battle at the end of the race, it was Acura and Wayne Taylor Racing who won the 72nd Edition of the 12 Hours of Sebring! Louis Deletraz gave us an anthology performance in the last round against Sébastien Bourdais, who really did everything to resist against the Swiss who was very strong. In LMP2, ERA Motorsport wins again thanks to the excellent performance of Connor Zilisch.

It was an amazing finish to the race! On the final restart with 20 minutes remaining, Sébastien Bourdais in the #01 Cadillac and Louis Deletraz in the #40 Acura battled like crazy for the win. Bourdais’ Cadillac had the advantage in terms of speed but the Acura was better in braking. After some minor contact and some (very) tense moments, Deletraz managed to sneak it in by taking advantage of traffic with 5 minutes to go! The Frenchman will never again see the Acura that will cross the finish line in first place.

12H Sebring, Deletraz up

Acura has won the 12th Sebring for the first time, as have Louis Deletraz and Colton Herta, with the second for Jordan Taylor who previously won with Wayne Taylor in 2017 in a Cadillac DPi. For Cadillac, it was another disappointment because the Detroit prototypes led most of the race but there was not much to do against Deletraz.

Behind, the #7 Porsche finished in 3rd place, behind the first two. The #25 BMW finished in 4th place thanks mainly to a very impressive maneuver by De Phillippi who beat two cars in one go at the first corner, during the last restart. Maxime Martin’s performances were also amazing in this race.

On the Lamborghini side, Romain Grosjean gave a great performance leading the peloton for the entire session, especially challenging Campbell for not being behind on lap 1. Turning in as fast as the other cars, it is proof that this Lamborghini can compete despite hitting more bumps than cars. others. There is hope for the future.

In GTD Pro, the battle at the end of the race was intense between Hawksworth, Juncadella, Serra and Heinrich. The fight would turn out to be the advantage of the Lexus RC F GT3 #14 of Hawksworth/Barnicoat/Kirkwood who knew how to avoid contact and crashes, something their rivals did not avoid, especially Juncadella who ended up in the wall with 3 laps remaining. in his Corvette.

In GTD, the #57 Winward Mercedes won once again with Philip Ellis, Indy Dontje and Russell Ward. This car was above the rest in this category which is becoming more and more common for this successful team, which is already winning at Daytona.
