Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton will soon be able to drive a Ferrari GP car for the first time. Team boss Fred Vasseur can imagine that this will be a special moment for the seven-time world champion.
It was already known before the start of this year’s season that Lewis Hamilton would leave the Mercedes team for Ferrari after twelve years together. The seven-time world champion later explained that with this step he will fulfill his childhood dream. The Brit’s first Formula 1 outing will be equally emotional.
Fred Vasseur also knows this, who said in an interview with “Sky Sports F1” that Hamilton does not have much time to get used to his new environment. The team boss explained: “Sure, it will be a short preparation period, we have about four weeks before the first event.”
And Vasseur listed: “We will do the first days of testing with the old car and Pirelli, then the car will be unveiled and then we will go straight to Bahrain. It will not be easy until the season opener in Melbourne.”
Hamilton could allow himself to be emotional, the Frenchman admitted, explaining with a laugh: “It’s definitely going to be emotional, because I think he’s been imagining what this moment will be like for 20 years. But it can only do it in one round. After that he must focus on his work.”
