Ironically, the Australian Grand Prix will be the first race of the Formula 1 season in 2025, which means that seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton will make his Ferrari debut in Melbourne.
Lewis Hamilton rocked Formula 1 last winter when news broke that he would be leaving Mercedes at the end of 2024. In the autumn of his impressive career, the 39-year-old driver is embarking on a new journey with the Ferrari team, fulfilling a childhood dream, according to his own blessings. The seven-time world champion will sit in the seat of the Italian powerhouse next to ‘Ferrari prodigy’ Charles Leclerc, which means that Carlos Sainz is currently busy looking for a new employer.
The FIA announced the 2025 Formula 1 calendar on Friday, meaning the motorsport body has released next year’s program on time. However, several things are immediately apparent. The Australian Grand Prix is the season opener, which means Hamilton will make his Ferrari debut Down Under. The new year of the first class was due to start for the last time in 2019 in Australia, but the race weekend was completely canceled before the start of the first free practice because of the emerging coronavirus.

After Australia it is the turn of China, Japan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Miami. For Dutch fans, this means that the season – just like this year – starts with a number of very early and a number of late races. In May, Formula 1 will visit Europe for the first time, with the Imola Grand Prix on Sunday, May 16. The Dutch Grand Prix will take place on Sunday, August 31, between the Hungarian and Monza races.
